On the nose this wine displays very typical Cabernet Sauvignon fruit aromas. Red currant, mulberry and dark chocolate combine with a background of charry oak, cigar box and spice. Palate - the immediate impression is one of full-bodied, mouth-filling red and blue fruit flavours, giving a luxurious feel. Although the phenolics are firm they are more than balanced by the juicy concentration, so texture is smooth. Length and persistence of the flavours are enhanced by charry oak notes that leave gentle, slightly bituminous tannins on the finish.

Inspira is a second label from Viña Chocalan. It is made from fruit from slightly younger vineyards. Chocalan Estate’s 80 hectares of vineyard are situated in a part of the Maipo Valley not previously planted with vines, between the Andes and the Coastal Mountain range. The proximity of the vineyards to the Pacific Ocean ensures that the heat of the warm days is mitigated by the cool breezes that are funnelled down the valley at night. This ensures a longer ripening period, and more elegant, less jammy wines. The 2007 Inspira Cabernet Sauvignon is brilliant ruby red in colour, and has very fruit forward aromas of ripe red plum, hints of cassis and other red fruit.
